The HP Ultrium Universal Cleaning Cartridge is designed to clean the read/write heads of HP StorageWorks Ultrium LTO tape drives, removing oxide buildup, dust, and debris that can cause read/write errors and reduce tape drive lifespan. A single cleaning cartridge provides up to 50 cleaning cycles and is compatible across all generations of HP Ultrium LTO tape drives (LTO-1 through LTO-9 and beyond). The drive will automatically eject the cartridge when the cleaning cycle is complete, and the cartridge tracks the number of remaining uses. Regular cleaning every 24–72 hours of tape movement is recommended to maintain optimal drive performance.
